The Modern Noob is my series about learning Modern. It has been going on since October and is scheduled to end with me choosing a deck to play in a Premier Event in the first week of June (June 2nd-3rd, I am getting my first dog ever on the 4th, so I better be finished by then).
Learn more about the Modern Noob here: http://mtgolibrary.blogspot.se/2014/04/the-modern-noob-finale.html
I want you to tell me which deck should leave The Modern Noob. You have until the downtime on Wednesday to vote. Just write the name of the deck you want to see gone in the comments below.

Goblins vs America Control
Somebody said that the biggest fault with control in Modern is that it does not even work against the decks it is supposed to beat. Lets see if the gobbos can prevail here.
Modern Noob vs Delver and a Rakdos Rogue Deck
I will report on my progress in The Modern Noob every Sunday here on mtgolibrary until June 8th, when I will report how the Premier Event/Daily worked out and then sell all my Modern cards when they peak like crazy during Modern PTQ Season. I will start playing the format again in September after rebuying everything I need.
Gobbos must go. Go gobbos go.
ReplyDeleteNoted! That was pretty quick!
ReplyDeleteI agree, goblins should go
ReplyDeleteGoblins go.
ReplyDeleteWow, 3 votes for Goblins! Is everyone fine with Tron (which was almost eliminated in the last vote!) or Soul Sisters?
ReplyDeleteI think Goblins are too All in deck. If You don't win until turn 5-6 You usually have a lot of problems to win, Soul Sisters has a lot better late game (not strong, but still better than Goblins), and stronger sideboard options (like WW in Pauper was: play G1 to see what enemy has (or win if You can), and win G2 and G3 using flexible sideboard :P )
ReplyDeleteI think you have a valid point, Arkadiusz. 4-0-0 for Goblins then
ReplyDeleteGoblins goes. Should have gone in the last vote.
ReplyDeleteGoblins
ReplyDeleteAway with Goblins.
ReplyDeleteI don't like Soul Sisters either, but it's marginally more interesting. I do like the Tron deck quite a bit. Those videos are fun to watch for sure.
Splinter Twin is currently the most popular deck (http://www.mtggoldfish.com/metagame/modern), it just doesn't make sense to go forward with Soul Sisters or Tron. There is no fun in getting crushed in the Premier events. It's like playing a deck with a bad matchup against Delver in Pauper.
ReplyDeleteBut Eze, Splinter Twin is still only 12% of the meta. Both decks have good matchups against deck #2, #3 and #4 (which is 22% of the meta). When I look at a deck I want to have as good a matchup against as much of the meta as possible, not just against the #1 deck.
ReplyDeleteWow, looks like Goblins is going. If you want to save Goblins, vote for Soul Sisters or Tron to be eliminated before the downtime
ReplyDeleteTron
ReplyDeleteTron must DIE!!!!
ReplyDeleteOk, Miles and Mad Blogger, two votes for Tron registered.
ReplyDeleteWrong deck left last time. Tron is a fun competitive deck that putting up more tournament wins than the other two decks. You seem comfortable playing both Tron and Soul Sisters and that is half the battle. Play something you know and like and go from there.
ReplyDeleteTron!
ReplyDeleteNoted, Alex. Voting will end tonight Swedish time when I get around to closing it
ReplyDeleteI vote goblins off the island
ReplyDeleteNoted, Brennon. Still some time left to vote as I am headed for the gym, then dinner and then have to call a friend
ReplyDeleteOK, it is over. Goblins has been voted to leave the Modern Noob. If possible I will try to play a tournament with both of the other decks.
