Hi Everyone!
We all know by now that Fate Reforged has a new mechanic called Manifest. It puts cards from the top of our library into play face down as a 2/2 creature. If it's a creature card it can be turned face up for it's morph cost.
While I think Wizards would have avoided two different kinds of "face down creatures" in the past, it appears that they are willing to allow some greater degree of complexity to make the game better.
There's also Ugin who destroys colored permanents. A colorless deck could be a real deck. Even if not tier 1 tournament quality, it could be a popular casual deck or a secondary strategy. I only mention this because When Ghostfire Blade first came out, I knew it would be a sweet card if a colorless deck became a thing. I think a colorless deck could become a thing.
I have been buying up ghostfire blades for .01 tickets. I stay away from specific recommendations, but I am going to say it's worth buying this time.
Let's look at the potential loss. Let's look at what happens when we buy 100 copies because that's a reasonable quantity to be able to acquire. If we lose all our money (we almost never lose ALL our money) but we lose 1 ticket. What about the upside? If it becomes a tournament deck, Ghostfire Blade could go up to $1 or more. Even if it goes to .05 tix you're still quintupling your money, that's pretty good. The odds of the card going up are low and the risk is low, but the potential upside is so high that I think it's a worthwhile investment.
Remember that MTG investments are purely speculative and you shouldn't gamble with money you can't lose.
