Wizards continue to skip downtimes

I am really please to see that Wizards is having success with skipping downtimes on Magic Online. To me that means that the software is now stable and that we get more playtime. Being in Europe, the downtime is really bad, sometimes eliminating a full evening of play on Magic Online.

These are the downtimes that have been eliminated for the rest of the year:

August 3
August 31
September 14
October 12
November 2
November 9
November 30
December 14

That is if the software is really stable, but I have hope that it is.

Scheduled Server updates

Today we will upgrade the hardware of all our servers. We will keep the servers down during the MTGO downtime, this means that mtgolibrary.com and mtgowikiprice.com will not be accessible while MTGO is down.

Thank you for your patience

Wikiprice down for 3 hours

Today we had a 3-hours downtime of our wikiprice service (https://www.mtgowikiprice.com). As result the webpages were not visible via browser and the wikiprice APIs were unavailable as well.

In details, we had a hardware failure and we had to replace some parts. We replaced the broken parts with redundant hardware in order not to have a similar problem again.

The service is now fully restored and working. We apologize for the issue.

NEWS

Wizards System Difficulties

Wizards of the CoastArchive
October 17, 2014
Today, Friday, October 17, 2014, Wizards of the Coast is experiencing issues affecting our database servers. These issues affect Magic systems such as Magic Online as well as our other systems, such as Wizards Event Reporter and the Store and Event Locator.
As of 12 noon PT we believe we have identified the problems causing these issues and are working diligently to restore our systems to full functionality. Currently we believe we will have these issues resolved prior to the start of Grand Prix Los Angeles.
More updates to come.
Retailers, if you have questions about how to run your events during this WER downtime please check your email or check the WPN site for information from the WPN team, or contact Retail Support at wpn.wizards.com/contact us.

Magic Online v3 will be down May 8th - May 10th

As you probably already know, Magic Online v3 will be down May 8th - May 10th for the so called "V4 spotlight".
Magic Online v4 will be live on July and mtgolibrary.com will not miss the chance to be the first bot there!

During the spotlight we will have some bots running, thanks to our beta testers. I expect many bugs to be fixed on the fly and a generalized slow behavior.... after all Magic Online v4 IS slow and every action there is problematic.
Anyhow, we managed to build a bot for V4 and all the team here is pretty excited about that!

Finger crossed for tomorrow!

New webserver is running!

The new server is up and running, everyone should be able to login as usual. Still, if you have any problem, just send me an email (staff@mtgolibrary.com) and I will be happy to help :-)

The new server is not just a nice UI - it's a whole new server, with new code, build with the latest technologies to offer stability and performance. But - most important - it's easy to expand and plug new functionalities. In the close future you will see many new features, things impossible on the old server. We are ahead of a very exciting period.

To close, I want to show you how responsive the new UI is: you can view the website on a large 22'' screen as well on a tiny smarthphone - and it will always render properly.

Managing your bots from distance Part 2

Managing your bots from distance
Today I will be telling you a very good way to tackle the problem of being away from your bots.

Although MTGOLibrary's Control panel allows you do do many things, such as changing the messages, changing credits and so on; none of these will really help you in the eventuality of a system error, unexpected restart (if you run bots on VMs) or many other problems which may occur.

My tip will be to run remote assistance software on your botting machine. With the booming technology developments in mobile phones/tablets, there are now many different apps that allow you to easily do anything on your PC via your mobile phone/tablet/laptop. This way you can restart your PC, run your antivirus software, adjust your personalprices.txt, or anything you would normally do while at work, holiday or wherever you are, as long as you have access to the Internet.

Just remember to make sure you don't skip any security step, such as setting strong passwords to access your machine etc.

Managing your bots from distance Part 1

Managing your bots from distance
Hello everyone, I did not manage to post in the last few weeks as I've been working 80 hours a week and my PC isn't at my living home at the moment. With as little interaction as 15 minutes every 2 days on my bots to tune pricing, settings and so on this gave me the ideal topic to talk about with every bot owner.

Whatever your reasons are, such as holidays, extra work, stress, lack of free time, being away from your MTGO Bots can bring some undesirable effects. This week I will show you the problems we all face when we're away from the PC and possible solutions on how to deal with it.

I will give more details about this in part2, till then enjoy your Christmas day and have a great new year!

ML Bot for MTGO v4 and downtime - under the hood

Hello,

considering the larger than usual downtime of the service, I would like to explain what we are doing "under the hood".

As the majority of you will probably now, the bot for Magic Online v4 is currently under development, and will fix a series of bottlenecks of the current bot. This unfortunately requires some extra work server-side, to adjust the code and to change parts of it.
It's an intensive work we prefer to accomplish with all the bots down, just to be totally sure things are ok and have all the time to run the tests.

We could have waited some weeks, but recently the server has been very slow and thus we took the change to halt it and work on it.

Next months you will also see a restyle of the website, in order to make it clear and responsive on tablet and mobile devices!

Sincerely,
Albert
