Upcoming MTGO Library Improvements

I am excited to annouce MTGO Library will be making some major improvements in the upcoming months.  As I mentioned in a prior article, there will be a new price updater that will be launched in October. In the image below you see a work-in-progress preview, so don't take it as final.

In November there will be improvements to MTGO Wikiprice with increased search speeds, the grouping of reprinted cards into one search page (In other words, if want Tarmogoyf, you don't have to search 3 different sets), and possibly a universal credit system for all ML bots to share credits.

After Christmas / January 2017, a Webshop for Wikiprice will be launched.  The new Webshop will allow customers to purchase from any bot using paypal or credit card.  And then grab the cards on single bots, or on a wikiprice collector bot (so one trade).  The goal is to make Mtgo Wikiprice a better place to shop.

New Pricing System Coming Soon

Mtgo Library is currently working on a major improvement to the background price updater that will be released in October.  It is a total rewrite of the current one with a more advanced algorithm. The new pricing system will be dynamic and will allow the bot to follow the market immediately with two extra controls based on current sales and inventory stock.  As always, Mtgo Library continues to make investments to keep their bots on the cutting-edge.

A few hours ago we updated wikiprice to list Eternal Masters (EMA).

Wikiprice down for 3 hours

Today we had a 3-hours downtime of our wikiprice service (https://www.mtgowikiprice.com). As result the webpages were not visible via browser and the wikiprice APIs were unavailable as well.

In details, we had a hardware failure and we had to replace some parts. We replaced the broken parts with redundant hardware in order not to have a similar problem again.

The service is now fully restored and working. We apologize for the issue.

New record for wikiprice: 50'000 pageviews in a day

Yesterday wikiprice reached more than 50'000 page views. Shadows over Innistrad helped a lot, but this is our best record so far.

Thank you all for making wikiprice so good and such a valuable resource for the community. We will work hard to make it better and better.

MTGO Library Bot 8.98

Few hours ago we released ML Bot 8.98.

The new version fixes a minor bug with wikiprice, a bug that resulted in showing cards marked as untradable for sale (and thus you could not buy them).

MTGO Library Bot 8.63

ML Bot 8.63 has just been released. We worked on two aspects:

• during mtgo login, the login could fail resulting in a "Waiting for MTGO to load" message while mtgo is not loading. Version 8.63 handles the problem and tries again the login after 15 seconds
• wikiprice realtime update is now more robust. When wikiprice is heavy loaded, previous bot versions could fail the update

MTGO Library Bot 8.62

ML Bot 8.62 has just been released. It fixes:

• a sync problem with wikiprice, causing solo-seller bots to display as buyers (while they do not buy any card)
• a more robust OPEN / BUSY Classified message handling. Previous versions sometimes fail to update the message from "BUSY" to "OPEN" at the end of the trades, resulting in a neverending BUSY status

Wikiprice down for maintenance, ML Bot 8.18

Wikiprice http://mtgowikiprice.com/ is currently down for maintenance: we will keep it down for another day and then we will restart it

We have just released ML Bot 8.18, an important update containing many bug-fixes.

• 8.18 features a more robust autotransfer handshake, especially when an "active" bot gives a command to a "passive" bot. Sometimes the passive bots ignored commands such "take my tixs" or "get my cards"
• the taking tixs part has been completely rewritten and now it is more reliable. We found the reason of the flicketing causing mtgo to maximize/minimze in a loop for many seconds
• The "Main Navigation" error by Mtgo v4 is now handled correctly and the bot restarts Mtgo
• fixed a Classifed problem causing the bot not to post the name of the cards
• PersonalPrices.txt and PersonalPercentages.txt are now case-insensitive

MTGO Library Bot 6.88 - Realtime Inventory

At the end of March we released the Inventory (see here http://mtgolibrary.blogspot.com/2014/03/inventory.html and here http://mtgolibrary.blogspot.com/2014/03/improved-inventory-part-ii.html), a tool to check your collection from remote. Inventory used to update every 2 hours, so it didn't track your exact collection after a trade, more or less like mtgowikiprice of the first period.

ML Bot 6.88 introduces the realtime Inventory, meaning that after a trade the bots will call the server and will update their Inventories.
We are developing the feature both for Mtgo v3 and Mtgo v4: our codebase is the same. In general every feature you see now on the current client will be there on Mtgo v4.

Back on wikiprice...

Just like most bot owners, I have been feeling the less volume of trades and profits on my bot chain. I've decided to go back on Wikiprice to boost the volume/quantity of trades and gather new regulars.

After being nearly one year away from wikiprice, I haven't had any "terrible days" due to a pricing mistake or a bad price list; while this seems to be a clear win/win choice, it had its disadvantages...

Being away from wikiprice is a great way to hide your bot away from bad trades, specially if you are inexperienced on mtgo botting and unsure about prices. The problem is that you're also hidden from great opportunities too, from customers who don't mind paying a little bit extra to get all from the same chain to the ones that might get a great deal out of you (at your loss) but keep you on their buddy list, for future trades..(where you'll have the chance of getting your losses back).

Overall I think I've made the right choice in coming back... any thoughts?

Wikiprice now showing chains!

Yesterday wikiprice was not working properly, online and offline, because we were deploying a new feature, the grouping by chain.

If a bot belongs to a chain, it will appear in blue with a little "+" sign on the left. Click it to expand the chain and get the details. This is useful because chains share the credits so you can shop in any of the grouped bots and your credit will follow you. This will also save vertical space on your screen so you can view more bots at the same time.

Wikiprice highly filtered for one day

Hi all,

we are working on wikiprice today and we decided to put the filters very high, so don't worry if you don't see your bots listed! Tomorrow we will remove them!

MTGO Library Bot 6.72

ML Bot 6.72 fixes a couple of problems connected with wikiprice.

Bots with many untradable tixs showed uncorrectly on wikiprice as having all of them tradable. This made customers believe the bot had tixs for them after a sale - while this was not true. You won't see an improvement immediately on wikiprice because it will take some days (4-5 days) before all the bots update to 6.72 - probably next week everything should be ok.

ML Bot 6.72 changes slightly the mechanism of updating the "Inventory" on the Online Control Panel. We are working to make updates in real-time (exactly as wikiprice) - this will come next week.

Wikiprice is currently experiencing issues

Wikiprice (http://mtgowikiprice.com/) is currently experiencing some issues and it is listing just few cards. We are working on the issue and hope to have everything up and running as usual in few hours

Wikiprice is now on a new server

Recently we had some problems with wikiprice, mainly due to the computational power of the server and the heavy traffic. Today we had to keep wikiprice down for 8 hours while we were migrating to a new server.

We moved wikiprice to a new server that doubles the amount of ram and uses ssd hard drives. We also optimized the code. So: new server, more ram, ssd hard drive, code optimization: all should result in a very stable wikiprice with an uptime close to 100%.

The first thing you'll see it that the pages load faster. Oh, we also changed the graphs a bit, and added a login section for a plethora of things we'll add in the future

Why wikiprice is often down

Recently we had some issues with wikiprice. It goes down almost once per day, and often the collection "resets" - and it takes 1 hours to fully populate again.

This is because we are getting a lot of traffic and a lot of visits. We had 1.000 unique visitors per day last month, and now are at 1.500. Our database used to store 8 million cards, now we are at 13 millions. It's an incredible success that brings us new and different problems, such as the computational resources of the server and the speed of the queries on the database.

We are solving these problems and soon as possible wikiprice will be stable again, for now we thank you for the patience

wikiprice is up again

Wikiprice is up again now. We changed the broken hardware (a hard drive) and restored a backup  of the entire system. The collection is already fully populated and the system is now returned to a fully functional state.
