Evaluating the Pauper Gauntlet S03

The third season of the Pauper Gauntlet is over. Aristocrats is the winner.

This is the time when you tell me what you liked and did not like about the Pauper Gauntlet so we can refine the format for a possible fourth season.

If you want a fourth season of the Pauper Gauntlet consider supporting the effort on Patreon here: https://www.patreon.com/magicgatheringstrat

You can also leave comments on YouTube in this video below

Some things I need your feedback on:

* The top 10 playoff - should it be removed?
* Can the early rounds (1-4) be unlimited in time or do you want them to last a predetermined set of weeks?
* What if the Pauper Gauntlet only had rogue decks? How would that be defined?
* What coverage did you follow? The articles here? The podcast? Twitter?
* The Voteback
* A second voteback after round 7?
* Number of decks
* The mtgolibrary coverage (too much? too little?)
* Your favorite deck
* Your favorite match
* Anything else you can think of

Now it really over. This is the last blog post about the third season of the Pauper Gauntlet. Thank you for watching

  1. I love your ambition, I love the gauntlet but man you need help with the amount of things that go into this.

    What about finding a friend to do the playing or deck building and that can reduce your time by a long shot.

    1. I think I will be stricter about what site to use for deck building (for the brewers) so I can easily import the decks next year. It went smoother than earlier seasons this time.

      Regarding the playing I think it would be very unfair to have multiple players. It would be hard to avoid arguments about getting the "worse" player to play your deck (as a brewer or champion). Having the same person play all the decks feels like a requirement. We tried having one person play one round in the Standard Pauper Gauntlet back in 2013 and that kinda worked. I have no idea who would be able to do that though. It feels like a lot to ask of someone. It is an important factor that I do love to grind Pauper matches, which is one of the original reason this thing happens again and again

    Nope nope nope. I liked it. Just don't make it too long so you can continue with the season :).

    Not necessary, if there are a lot of decks, it's hard to make it quick. Take your time to do it right!

    Wut? No. It wouldn't be real, meta decks aren't meta just because they are pretty, are they?

    * What coverage did you follow? The articles here? The podcast? Twitter?
    I prefer articles! It takes you almost the same time and, at least to me, is more direct than a podcast.

    * The Voteback
    Yep!

    * A second voteback after round 7?
    Yep yep!

    * Number of decks
    <100 sure! More than that would be too much...

    * The mtgolibrary coverage (too much? too little?)
    It would be cool to have a little... summary, after each round. I know, it takes a lot of time, but it really clarifies things up.

    * Anything else you can think of
    I think it would be pretty... confusing, but I'd like that decks have "lifes". So you lost one match, you have one less life. You lost another match, oh, you have no lifes left, you go out. Because I think is pretty unfair that anyone who lost on round 1 have another chance but if you lost in the third round you don't (actually it would be the second). Then after... i don't know, round 7 there's no more lifes. But it pretty much complicates things and such :v

    May I suggest a deck for the next gauntlet? There should be a post about it and how to do it in the blog ;)
