Disable User Account Control In Windows 10

On Microsoft Windows 10, User Account Control ('UAC') prevents applications from making certain changes on your PC. Some applications try to change system-related parts, such as the Registry or the file system.

ML Bot is one of these applications because, in order to manage Magic Online and uninstall / reinstall it, the bot needs to access the file system (the "files on your hard drive"). If you don't disable UAC, ML Bot will not be able to perform certain tasks on Magic Online and in particular to repair MTGO in case of crash. As result the bot will work fine until MTGO crashes. At this point ML Bot will not be able to handle the crash and recover.
Please note that on a stable machine this will hardly happen and keeping the UAC turned will not affect you however typically this is not the case, MTGO is very unstable and crashes often and turning off UAC is mandatory.

Here is how to disable UAC and get rid of its popups in Windows 10.

Step 1
Firstly, right click on the “Start” button and select Control Panel option.

Step 2
Select "view by: large icons"

Step 3
Select the User Account option.

Step 4
Select the 'Change User Account Control setting' option

Step 5
Select User Account Control settings, and move the slider to the bottom (Never Notify). If the slider is already at the bottom (Never Notify) then move it up, release the mouse, move it down again to Never Notify and release it. Click OK.

Step 6
When you click OK the new dialogue box is open. Click YES.

Step 7
At this point UAC should be disabled. You will need to restart your PC. Once restarted, launch ML Bot using the icon on the Desktop,  if you completed the steps successfully the bot will launch without UAC. If you still see a request dialog from UAC, you did not disable UAC and you need to do again the steps above. If the problem still persists, please contact us via email at staff@mtgolibrary.com or mtgolibrary@gmail.com

Important update: ML Bot 11.21

Yesterday we released ML Bot 11.21. This version fixes an important problem of the versions from 11.15 to 11.20. These versions logged too much information and in a couple of days filled the hard drive with large text files. With the hard drive filled, and no more space left, the bot encountered a lot of unexpected problems, such as DLL errors, blank screens at startup and blocks.

Not all the PCs experienced the same problem but if yours did then you have to update your bots to 11.21. You have to update manually, using the installer provided in the online control panel. Do not let bot update by itself. If the bot is already 11.21 and you still experience problem, please download the installer and overwrite the current installation.

Before doing everything you also have to check the "/log" folder in the bot main folder and erase all the files there. Most likely you will find a lot of text files there, taking all the hard drive space. Once erased, don't forget to empty your Recycle bin as well.

Thank you

MTGO Library Bot 9.91

We released a couple of updates in close succession in the last few days. These updates include minor fixes but we thought it was necessary to release them immediately because they improve the stability of the client.

Most notably we fixed a problem with reading the commands from the chat, a MTGO crash at the login screen, a problem with the classified messages resulting in posted selling prices instead of buying price (and viceversa: buying prices posted, instead of selling prices) and a problem in loading the collection.

As you can see, these are small and "not core" issues but we preferred to release them immediately instead of waiting the next big update.

What to do with all the junk rares on your bots?

The recent drop in junk rares prices by mtgotraders from 5 cents to 1 cent has affected the market as a whole. I suspect I have been way to fascinated by picking up cheap junk rares but what I (and you) seriously has to consider is what we are going to do with these rares.

Lite Bots are not working like they used to. Even the prices of commons and uncommons have dropped.

Will junk rare prices rise again?
Probably not. The enormous supply and ease of sale on Magic Online do push the price of these cards down to the bottom and, except in special cases (most often Standard legal cards) the prices will probably stay low even with a huge influx of new players on Magic Online.

How should you price your junk rares?
I have kept the high price of 5 cents for my junk rares. I sell 3 uncommons for 3 cents and commons for 2 cents. Honestly, I sell a lot more commons and uncommons than rares.

My reasoning is that these cards are usually used to burn the last credit a user has on the bot. If he is going to burn his last credit he might as well give me some margin. In fact, these deals are among the most profitable I make percentage-wise, but naturally it is very hard to scale to make any significant difference to the bottom line.

What about the Lite Bots?
My Lite Bot business has been really hurt by this change in pricing. Business is perhaps 20% of what it used to be just a few months back. Have you experienced the same?

Who wants the Junk Rares?
Well, the problem probably is that noone does. I have heard some podcasts talk about how rogue brewing now is dirt cheap on Magic Online and that is of course true but not to a degree that helps us botters generate any money. I wish Heirloom was a bigger format.

What is your strategy for dealing with junk rares on your bots? How many do you pick up? What do you pay for them? How do you sell them? Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

MTGO Library Bot 8.68

Yesterday we released ML Bot 8.68. The update fixes

  • a problem with Automatic Card Transfer when a "passive" bot was also listed as "admin" - in that case the active bot was unable to complete the trade because it recognized the passive bot as administrator, and waited for input.
  • we changed the way the bot closes MTGO and made it more "gracefully" clicking "Yes" on the close dialog
  • fixed a crash on LauncherGUIChecker.exe
  • fixed a bug that caused the corruption of the database and the inability to handle trades until reinstallation of the bot

Your plans for the V3 crash

A lot of people are mad at Wizards for shutting down the v3 client on July 16th. I will not give you my opinion here. It is a fact that it is happening. How will it affect you? How will it affect the market?

Judging from earlier client switchovers, the market will fall. In fact, the switchover will be an excellent opportunity for picking up cards. The market will quickly recover and probably be back to normal levels in time for the Khans of Tarkir release.

This means that you should probably pick up:

* Theros block standard cards. Pick up the cards in Theros block with focus on cards that have done well in block and cards from the two later sets.

* Vintage Masters

July 17-31 will be an excellent time to pick these up when everyone else is looking at M15 or quitting the game.

Questions? Thoughts? How many of you were there when V2 shut down?
