Summary of the Pauper Gauntlet S02 round one

WARNING! This blog post contains spoilers if you have not watched all of the videos of the first round of the Pauper Gauntlet S02.

The first round of the Pauper Gauntlet has finished! The first two rounds are double elimination so a deck needs to lose both round 1 and round 2 to get eliminated. After that, it gets more serious.

But some decks lost in the first round. Actually, I was very close to the 70% win percentage I estimated. Now I want to do that again at which point only nine decks will be eliminated. That is my goal for the second round.

Basic facts

What is the Pauper Gauntlet? http://mtgolibrary.blogspot.com/2014/08/the-pauper-gauntlet.html

The above link also contains information about how you can win free prizes (including an Elspeth, Sun's Champion and two foil Shocklands).

The weekly show about the Gauntlet

Feature match
As mentioned, GruulKitty lost to UW Tireless Tribe. That deck was a joy to behold. Check out the match below.

What about the rest of the decks?
77 decks entered the Gauntlet. The rest of the decks not mentioned below won the first round. That means they are already qualified for round 3. I will still play them for practice. Some of them really needs that.

Yes, that means that I won 44 matches, going 44-23 for the first round of the Pauper Gauntlet S02.

I will jump straight into round two and estimate it will take another two weeks or so to finish.

  1. Hi,
Is there option to slightly change sideboard? Since Tron is now about 3% of meta (according to mtgo goldfish), and delver fiend is 4,5% (and answers for delver fiend would be good vs infect / GW auras / Tireless Tribe and other "one hit kill decks" with my deck seems to has a problem to deal with) i was thinking about -4 land destruction in sideboard, +2 moments peace (already tested it in my local meta vs delver fiend and it was nice) and maybe +2 Feed the Clan (with Blastoderm or almost any creature + rancor we get 10hp, so quite nice vs aggro and burn (especially burn).
If You accept possibility of changing the sideboard i will make more specific plan at tappedout.

  2. Yes, you can change it. Just change the tapped out page and email me (or send me a facebook message) saying that you have done so. The meta in the JFF room is extremely different from the goldfish stats though. Even the TP room is very different, bbut more similar to goldfish

The most important thing about the SB plans is to include more decks, like all tier 3 and tier 4 decks so I don't make stupid sideboard mistakes against them

    1. GR Gruulkitty deck changes http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/gr-gruul-kitty/

I tried to find Your mail, but couldn't (altrugh there is Your full name on http://magicgatheringstrat.com/, but not e-mail adres :P )

    2. Send a message on twitter to @MagicGathStrat and I will give you my email address.

    3. Probably no longer needed if You saw thais message :P.
